GARDENING TIPS FOR JULY AND AUGUST
- Plant out summer bedding and keep moist in dry weather
- Stake tall perennials to prevent wind damage to flower spikes
- Sweetpeas need training and tying to their support canes to encourage them to climb and create a beautiful display
- Liquid feed your pots and containers every 2-4 weeks
- Keep tubs, baskets and beds well-watered (use collected rain water wherever possible)
- Continue to protect lillies, delphiniums and other susceptible plants from slugs and snails
- If you want to grow your own spring bedding for next year, many flowers (including pansies) should be sown now in order to bloom next spring
